Hagartsin Monastery

The history of the Armenian monastery complex of Haghartsni begins in the 10th century. According to tradition, on the opening day of the monastery, during the consecration ceremony, an eagle soars in the sky, which was a sign of peace, and that is where the word Haghartsin came from.
The construction of the monastery took about 3 centuries. We received a lot of information about the monastery from Kirakos Gandzaketsu. It was one of the main cultural centers.
The monastic complex includes 3 churches, 2 courtyards, refectory, prayer rooms and, of course, khachkars. Here you can see the famous bronze cauldron.
